How many words do I need to find?

Is the puzzle the same for everyone?

Yes. A daily seed picks the theme, the words, and their placement in the grid, refreshed at midnight UTC.

Which directions can words run?

Words can run left-to-right, top-to-bottom, or diagonally in either downward direction — never backwards or upward, so scanning is predictable.

How do I select a word?

Tap the first letter, then tap the last letter of the word. If the letters between them spell a hidden word in either direction, it's marked as found.

Does my progress save if I close the browser?

Yes, the words you've already found are saved locally in your browser for the day.

Is there a time limit?

No. Take as long as you need — there's no clock counting down.

Is there a large print version for easier reading?

There's no dedicated large-print mode, but there's nothing to buy or download either — the grid is a normal webpage, so your browser's zoom (Ctrl/Cmd and +) or pinch-to-zoom on mobile enlarges the same bold monospace letters to whatever size is comfortable.

Are these hard word search puzzles, or good for beginners?

There's no selectable difficulty level — everyone solves the same eight-word puzzle each day. What makes it feel hard or easy is the math, not a toggle: the grid is 12x12 (144 cells) holding just eight words, so most of what you see is random filler letters, and every word is placed reading only right, down, or diagonally-down — never backward or upward — so you can't rely on scanning in one easy direction. That's what makes for a genuinely difficult word search without needing a difficulty setting.

Can I get a free printable word search puzzle?

Every puzzle here is free to play, and there's no dedicated print or PDF button, but it's a normal webpage — your browser's print function (Ctrl/Cmd+P) turns today's letter grid and word list into a printable word search. It isn't laid out specifically for paper, but it prints clearly since it's already a simple monospace layout.

What themes does the daily word search puzzle use?

Each day's theme is picked at random (seeded by the date, so it's the same for everyone) from a rotating pool of nine: Animals, Ocean Life, Space, Kitchen, Weather, Sports, Music, Travel, and Garden. You can't pick a theme yourself — you get whichever one comes up for today, with eight words drawn from that theme's list.

What order do the eight words get placed on the grid?

Longest words first. I sort the day's word list by length before placing anything, since longer words are the hardest to fit into the 12x12 grid without hitting a letter conflict — placing them while the grid is still mostly empty leaves the shorter words an easier time finding a legal home afterward.

What happens if a word genuinely can't fit on the grid?

Each word gets up to 100 randomized placement attempts (random direction, random starting cell) before I give up on it. In practice that's never actually failed with an empty 12x12 grid and only eight words, but the generator is built to just skip a word that truly can't fit rather than loop forever — so what loads is always a complete, playable grid either way.

If I select the wrong cells, does anything happen besides nothing?

The cells you selected flash red for 400 milliseconds, then clear back to normal — a quick visual "no" so you know the selection didn't register as a word. There's no penalty and no counter against you; you can try again immediately.
