Getting started
How to Play Daily Minesweeper
- Click a cell to reveal it.
- Use the numbers to deduce where the mines are, and clear every safe cell.
Tips
Tips & Strategy
- Start from the automatically revealed center and work outward, following the numbers rather than guessing blindly.
- A revealed 0 cell means every neighboring cell is safe β those chain-reveal automatically, so use them to map out large safe zones fast.
- If a numbered cell's count exactly matches its unrevealed neighbors, all of those neighbors are mines β flag them immediately.
- Conversely, if a numbered cell's flagged neighbors already satisfy its count, every other unrevealed neighbor is safe to click.
- A revealed cell showing blank (not a number) means you've hit a zero-adjacency pocket β the flood-fill already cleared every connected zero cell and its bordering numbers for you, so treat a big blank patch as fully solved rather than re-checking cells inside it one by one.
Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
- How big is the board?
- A classic 9x9 grid with 10 mines, refreshed daily.
- Is the board the same for everyone today?
- Yes. A daily seed places the mines, so every player faces the identical board, refreshed at midnight UTC.
- How do I flag a suspected mine?
- Right-click a cell, or toggle Flag mode and tap it, to mark it with a flag without revealing it.
- What happens if I click a mine?
- The round ends immediately and all mines are revealed. A new board arrives tomorrow.
- What is the safe starting area?
- The center 3x3 of the board is guaranteed mine-free, and I auto-reveal the whole block the moment you load the game β not just one cell. Every one of the middle cell's eight neighbors also sits inside that same safe zone, so it always reads zero adjacent mines, and the reveal floods outward across the full 3x3 automatically.
- Does my result save?
- Yes β once you win or lose for the day, that result is saved locally and shown if you return.
- What do the numbers on the board mean?
- Each revealed number tells you how many mines are hidden among that cell's up to eight neighboring cells. A '3' means exactly three of its neighbors are mines β combine that count with adjacent numbers to logically work out which unrevealed cells are safe or dangerous.
- Is there a solver or hint button?
- No built-in solver or hints β working the board out yourself with the numbers is the whole game. See the tips below for the two logic rules that do basically all of the deducing for you.
- Is there an infinite or unlimited mode?
- Not a separate mode, but close: everyone still gets the same one shared board per day, refreshed at midnight UTC, and that's the result your stats track. Clear it (or hit a mine) and a "Play Again" button appears for a freshly-generated board you can replay as many times as you want β those extra rounds just don't count toward Played/Wins/Streak.
- How do you play Minesweeper?
- Click any cell to reveal it. The numbers show how many mines touch that cell, so use them to deduce which unrevealed cells are safe and which are mines, flagging the ones you suspect. Clear every non-mine cell without triggering one to win.
- When I reveal a cell with no adjacent mines, does it only open that one cell?
- Only if it borders a mine. A cell with zero adjacent mines flood-fills outward automatically β every connected zero-adjacency cell reveals at once, plus every numbered cell bordering that empty pocket, all from a single click. It's the same flood-fill the auto-revealed center square uses on load, just triggered anywhere on the board.
- Does flagging every mine correctly count toward winning?
- No β flags are never checked against actual mine positions. The win condition only looks at whether every non-mine cell has been revealed, so you can clear the board and win without placing a single flag, or with flags sitting on the wrong cells the whole game. Flagging is purely a memory aid for you, not something the game verifies.
- What are the actual odds any hidden cell outside the safe zone is a mine?
- The board has 81 cells total; 9 of those (the center 3x3) are permanently reserved mine-free, leaving 72 candidate cells. Mines are chosen by shuffling those 72 candidates and taking the first 10, so before you reveal anything nearby, any single outside cell has roughly a 1-in-7 chance (10 of 72) of hiding a mine β the numbers you uncover narrow that down from there.
